Housing for All Scheme: More Than 6.8 Lakh Houses Constructed Across Nation
Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana is on its fast track development way. The scheme was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on June 2015 aims to construct more than 2 crore houses across the nation within a span of seven years.

 The scheme was launched to fulfill the dream of all people who are homeless by providing them a living facilitated house.

The scheme was started in 2015, would be completed in 2022. Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana- Gramin was launched to provide housing for rural people and for urban people another component of the scheme was launched in 2015 as Housing for All by 2022.

Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana- Housing for All launched with aim to construct more than two crore housing units in next seven years. Under the scheme, more than 6.8 lakh housing units has already been constructed across the nation.

Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana- Housing for All is meant for Economical weaker section (EWS) and lower income group (LIG).

The family, not owned a pucca houses either in his/her name or in the name of any member of his/her family in any part of the nation, can only avail the benefits of the scheme.

Central assistance would be provided to promote housing stock for urban poor, provided 35 percent of dwelling units of the projects proposed are earmarked for EWS category. A central grant of Rs. 1 Lakh to 2.3 Lakh will be provided to the urban poor beneficiaries of the scheme.

The implementation process of the scheme will be completed in three phases, of first phase is running. All three phases run for two years, first phase from April 2015 to March 2017; second phase from April 2017 to March 2019 and the final phase will start in April 2019 and will be executed till March 2022, till the completion of the project.

The first phase of the scheme will be implemented in the 100 cities and in the next phase around will cover around 200 cities. The third and final phase of the scheme will be executed till the completion of the project.

According to the proposals under the scheme, 1 crore households would be provided assistance for construction of pucca house in rural area under the project till 2019. Under the scheme, financial assistance will be provided for construction of pucca house to all homeless and households living in dilapidated houses.

The expenditure of implementing the first and second phase from 2016-17 to 2018-19 is around Rs. 81975 crore.

Under the scheme, the government has expand the size for housing units from 20 square meter to 25 square meter and each house will included toilet and space for cooking. Not only the size of house, the government has also increase the fund allotted for the construction of house from Rs. 70,000 to Rs. 1,20,000.

A houses is dream of every person which directly upwards the social mobility with salutary impact on health and education. PM Awas Yojana is the scheme, fulfilling this dream of people.
